This article is split into two parts. The first part introduces the Lagrange and Markov spectra (which we shall denote by \(L\) and \(M\) respectively) and provides a dynamical characterization of these two sets. Using this characterization, the second part gives a sketched proof of a theorem due to \textit{C. Moreira} [Ann. Math. (2) 188, No. 1, 145--170 (2018; Zbl 1404.11095)]. This theorem provides a detailed description of the Hausdorff dimension of \(L\cap(-\infty,t)\) and \(M\cap(-\infty,t)\). In particular, it is shown that \(\dim_{H}(L\cap(-\infty,t))=\dim_{H}(M\cap(-\infty,t))\) for all \(t\in\mathbb{R}\), \(\dim_{H}(L\cap(-\infty,t))>0\) for all \(t>3\), and \(\dim_{H}(L\cap(-\infty,t))\) depends continuously on \(t\). This article is well written and would provide a good introduction to a general audience. For the entire collection see [Zbl 1397.37007].
