Weakly symmetric spaces were introduced by A. Selberg in connection with his trace formula. In his definition, such spaces are Riemannian homogeneous manifolds with an additional isometry of a special kind, which generalize the symmetry in the classical case of symmetric spaces. In the present article weakly symmetric pseudo-Riemannian spaces are considered in the case, when the transitive group is semisimple and the stationary subgroup is reductive. Several known classifications of some classes of homogeneous spaces and modifications and extensions for some of them are used. The final results are the classifications of semisimple weakly symmetric spaces of Riemannian signature \((n,0)\), Lorentz signature \((n- 1, 1)\) and trans-Lorentzian signature \((n - 2, 2)\).
