Summary: We employ the complex method to obtain the general meromorphic solutions of the Fisher equation, which improves the corresponding results obtained by \textit{M. J. Ablowitz} and \textit{A. Zeppetella} [Bull. Math. Biol. 41, 835--840 (1979; Zbl 0423.35079)] and other authors [\textit{Z. Feng} and \textit{Y. Li}, ``Complex traveling wave solutions to the Fisher equation'', Phys. A 366, 115--123 (2006; \url{doi:10.1016/j.physa.2005.10.058}); \textit{B. Guo} and \textit{Z. Chen}, J. Phys. A, Math. Gen. 24, No. 3, 645--650 (1991; Zbl 0759.35026)], and \(w_{g, i}(z)\) are new general meromorphic solutions of the Fisher equation for \(c = \pm 5 i / \sqrt{6} .\) Our results show that the complex method provides a powerful mathematical tool for solving great many nonlinear partial differential equations in mathematical physics.
