Given a simple group $G$, two elements $f,g\in G$ are said to be symmetrized conjugate if $f$ is conjugate to either $g$ or $g^{-1}$. The set $\mathcal{M}(G)$ of non-trivial symmetrized conjugacy classes of $G$ is defined as the quotient of $G$ by the equivalence relation of symmetrized conjugacy. It is possible to endow $\mathcal{M}(G)$ with a metric defined in the following way \[ d([f],[g])=\log\max\{q_{\{g\}}(f),q_{\{f\}}(g)\} \] where $q_{\{g\}}(f)$ is defined to be the minimum number of conjugates of elements of $\{g\}\cup\{g^{-1}\}$ whose product is equal to $f$. Notice that this number is well-defined since $G$ is a simple group. \par In [``On non-uniformly simple groups'', \url{arXiv:1107.5125}], \textit{H. Kodama} showed that for the infinite alternating group $A_{\infty}$ the metric space $(\mathcal{M}(A_{\infty}),d)$ is quasi-isometric to the half line. In this paper, the author considers the 2-disk $D^2$ endowed with the standard area form $\Omega$ and the Calabi homomorphism \[ \mathrm{Cal}:\mathrm{Diff}^{\infty}_{\Omega}(D^2,\partial D^2)\longrightarrow\mathbb{R} \] where $\mathrm{Diff}^{\infty}_{\Omega}(D^2,\partial D^2)$ denotes the group of smooth area-preserving diffeomorphisms of the disk which are the idendity near the boundary. The kernel $\mathrm{KerCal}$ of this homomorphism is a simple group and the author shows (Theorem~1.3) that the metric space $(\mathcal{M}(\mathrm{KerCal}),d)$ is not quasi-isometric to the half line. This result answers a question posed by \textit{T. Tsuboi} in [Adv. Stud. Pure Math. 72, 239--248 (2017; Zbl 1383.57032)].
