Let \(G\) be a compact group and \(1\leq p\leq\infty\). [\textit{B. E. Forrest} et al., Stud. Math. 196, No. 3, 223--249 (2010; Zbl 1210.43003)] gave an operator space version denoted \(A_\Delta(G)\) of the algebra \(A_\gamma(G)\) created by [\textit{B. E. Johnson}, J. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 50, No. 2, 361--374 (1994; Zbl 0829.43004)] when he was investigating the non-amenability of \(A(\mathrm{SO}(3))\). This space \(A_\Delta(G)\) is the special case \(p=2\) of a class of Banach functions algebras \(\mathcal{A}^p(G)\) intoduce in the present paper for \(1\leq p\leq\infty\), while \(\mathcal{A}^1(G)\) is the Fourier algebras \(A(G)\) as defined by [\textit{W. F. Stinespring}, Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 90, 15--56 (1959; Zbl 0085.10202); \textit{P. Eymard}, Bull. Soc. Math. Fr. 92, 181--236 (1964; Zbl 0169.46403)]. Equipped with their natural operator space structures, these \(p\)-Fourier algebras are completely contractive under poinwise multiplication. The same is true for their weighted versions \(\mathcal{A}^p(G,\omega)\) called \(p\)-Beurling-Fourier algebras by the authors. In the case \(p\neq2\), they prove that \(\mathcal{A}^p(G)\cong \mathcal{A}^p(H)\) if and only if the compact groups \(G\) and \(H\) are isomorphic; \(\mathcal{A}^p(G,\omega_\theta)\cong\mathcal{A}^p(H,\omega_\theta)\) isometrically isomorphically implies that \(G\cong H\) under certain constraint of the weight \(\omega=\omega_\theta\). They also study various amenability and operator amenability properties, Arens regularity and representability as operator algebras. For instance, the algebra \(\mathcal{A}^p (G)\) is Arens regular only if \(G\) is finite.
