The authors prove birameter versions of the Hörmander-Mihlin multiplier theorem on product Hardy spaces. More precisely, let \(m:\mathbb{R}^{n_1}\times \mathbb{R}^{n_2}\) be a multiplier satisfying \[ A:=\sup_{j,k\in\mathbb{Z}}\|m_{j,k}\|{W^{s_1,s_2}}<\infty,\quad m_{j,k}(\xi_1,\xi_2):=m(2^j\xi_1,2^k\xi_2)\Psi_1(\xi_1)\Psi_2(\xi_2) \] where \(W^{s_1,s_2}\) is the biparameter non-homegeneous Sobolev space on \(\mathbb{R}^{n_1}\times \mathbb{R}^{n_2}\) with two independent smoothness parameters \(s_1,s_2\), and \(\Psi_1,\Psi_2\) are suitable Littlewood-Paley cutoff functions on \(\mathbb{R}^{n_1}\) and \(\mathbb{R}^{n_2}\), respectively. If \(0< p \leq 1\) and \(s_j>n_j(1/p-1/2)\) for \(j\in\{1,2\}\) then the operator \[ T_mf (x_1,x_2):= \int_{\mathbb{R}^{n_1}\times \mathbb{R}^{n_2}} m(\xi_1,\xi_2) \hat f(\xi_1,\xi_2)e^{2\pi i(x_1\cdot \xi_1+x_2\cdot \xi_2)} d\xi_1d\xi_2 \] maps \(H^p(\mathbb{R}^{n_1}\times \mathbb{R}^{n_2})\) to itself with norm controlled by a multiple of the quantity \(A\). Here \(H^p\) is the product Hardy space on \(\mathbb{R}^{n_1}\times \mathbb{R}^{n_2}\) defined by means of suitable product Littlewood-Paley square functions. The smoothness assumptions in this theorem are optimal, thus generalizing the one-parameter analogous theorem of \textit{A. P. Calderon} and \textit{A. Torchinsky} from [Adv. Math. 24, 101--171 (1977; Zbl 0355.46021)]. A version of the biparameter theorem with non-sharp smoothness assumptions was previously proved by \textit{L.-K. Chen} in [Ill. J. Math. 38, No. 3, 420--433 (1994; Zbl 0801.42007)] and by \textit{R. Fefferman} and \textit{K. C. Lin} [unpublished].
