In this work, the authors study a class of Poisson-Nijenhuis (PN) structures on compact Hermitian symmetric spaces coming from the compatibility of the Bruhat-Poisson structure and the one associated with the KKS symplectic form, a result due to \textit{S. Khoroshkin} et al. [``A family of Poisson structures on Hermitian symmetric spaces'', Commun. Math. Phys. 152, No. 2, 299--315 (1994; \url{doi:10.1007/BF02098301})]. To construct a completely integrable system on a compact Hermitian symmetric space \(M_{\phi} = G/H_{\phi},\) the authors consider the eigenvalues of the Nijenhuis operator \(N.\) They show that any matrix-valued function solving the so-called master equation defines the Nijenhuis eigenvalues, and that the basic solution of the master equation is given by the moment map \(\mu\) of any \(\mathfrak{g}\)-action in a representation \(R\) which is \(\phi\)-decomposable. To get many independent solutions of the master equation, the authors consider a chain of nested Lie subalgebras \[ \mathfrak{g}\supset \mathfrak{g}_1\supset \mathfrak{g}_2\cdots \supset \mathfrak{g}_n=0, \] where each Lie subalgebra \(\mathfrak{g}_i\) has a representation \(R_i\) and a corresponding moment map. In the last few sections of the paper, the authors essentially show in a case by case analysis that by picking a suitable chain of nested Lie subalgebras, the solutions so obtained do provide all the Nijenhuis eigenvalues to establish complete integrability. In particular, in the case of the Grassmannians, the author's result in this work shows that the integrals of the Gelfand-Tsetlin system are also in involution in the Bruhat-Poisson structure.
