Consider is the following system of differential-algebraic equations with state-dependent delay \[ \begin{cases} \dot{x}(t)=f(x(t),x(t-\tau(t)),\sigma), \\ \tau(t)=g(x(t),x(t-\tau(t)),\sigma), \end {cases} \] where \(x\in \mathbb{R}^N\) and \(\sigma\in \mathbb{R}\). When the delay vanishes at the stationary state, the theory of global Hopf bifurcation developed in [\textit{Z. Balanov} et al., J. Differ. Equations 257, No. 7, 2622--2670 (2014; Zbl 1326.34121)] is inapplicable. In this paper, using the \(S^1\)-equivariant degree, the author successfully developed the global Hopf bifurcation theory which is applicable to this situation. The theoretical result is demonstrated by a model with a state-dependent delay for genetic regulatory dynamics.
