The local coefficients have been first introduced by \textit{F. Shahidi} in the setting of connected reductive groups and their Levi components [Am. J. Math. 103, 297--355 (1981; Zbl 0467.12013)]. They are functions whose definition and basic properties result from the theory of intertwining operators for local groups and the theory of Whittaker functionals. They appear in the functional equation of certain global $L$-functions and their analytic behavior determines the irreducibility of certain local parabolically induced representations. \par In this paper, the author develops a similar theory of local coefficients in the setting of $n$-fold covers of $p$-adic $SL_{2}$ under the hypothesis that the $p$-adic field $F$ contains the full group of $n$-th roots of 1 and $n$ is a positive integer not divisible by 4. He generalizes and extends his joint work with \textit{D. Goldberg} [Int. J. Number Theory 12, No 7, 1907--1936 (2016; Zbl 1367.11052)] using the same method. The fundamental novelty is the definition of a nice model for any genuine principal series representation $\pi$ of the $n$-fold cover $\widetilde{SL_2}(F)$ (\S 4.2). This allows one to define a local coefficients matrix whose conjugacy class depends only on the isomorphism class of $\pi$ and a fixed nontrivial additive character $\psi$ of $F$, so it produces two new invariants associated to $\pi$ (and $\psi$), the trace and the determinant of the local coefficients matrix. \par After lengthy computations to express the local coefficients in terms of partial $\gamma$-factors or metaplectic counterparts, the author defines the (inverse of) the Plancherel measure associated to a genuine principal series representation of $\widetilde{SL_2}(F)$ and gives two expressions of it, one as a harmonic mean of (inverses of) the Plancherel measures of the principal series of $SL_{2}(F)$ or of its metaplectic cover according to the parity of $n$ (Th. 5.1); the other, available when $p$ doesn't divide $n$, as a quotient of products of two $L$-functions up to a multiplicative explicit constant (Th. 5.7). In the meantime, he deduces all irreducible genuine principal series representations of $\widetilde{SL_2}(F)$ (Prop. 5.5).
