The authors propose a delay differential model of the form \[ \begin{aligned} &\dot{S}=\Lambda -\beta e^{\alpha I(t-\tau)}SI-dS,\\ &\dot{I}=\beta e^{\alpha I(t-\tau)}SI-(d+\gamma)I,\\ &\dot{R}=\gamma I- \mu R \end{aligned} \] to examine the media impact on the transmission dynamics of infectious diseases. They study the stability of the disease-free and endemic equilibria as well as the local and global Hopf bifurcations. Further, a case study is considered on the basis of the 2009 A/H1N1 pandemic influenza data in Shaanxi province of China.
