Diffeomorphic approximation of \(W^{1,1}\) planar Sobolev homeomorphisms (Q1746193)

Let \(f\) be a homeomorphism from a domain \(\Omega\subset {\mathbb R}^2\) (to \(f(\Omega)\)). Assuming that \(f\in W^{1, 1}(\Omega, {\mathbb R}^2)\), the authors prove the existence of a sequence of smooth diffeomorphisms converging uniformly to \(f\) in \(W^{1, 1}(\Omega, {\mathbb R}^2)\).
