Let \(T\) be a nonuniformly expanding map (see [\textit{L.-S. Young}, Isr. J. Math. 110, 153--188 (1999; Zbl 0983.37005)]), let \(v\) be an observable, and let \(v_n=\sum_{k=0}^{n-1}v\circ T^k\) be the Birkhoff sums. Let \(\mu\) and \(\rho\) be two probability measures; consider the corresponding discrete-time random processes \(X_n=(v_n,\mu)\) and \(Y_n=(v_n,\rho)\). The author shows that if \(v\) is bounded, then in a large class of measures, it is possible to redefine \(X_n\) and \(Y_n\) on a new probability space so that \(Z=\sup|X_n-Y_n|\) is almost surely finite.
