In most classical Hilbert spaces of holomorphic functions on the unit disk in which the polynomials are dense, any function can be approximated in the norm by its radial dilates. That is, for a function \(f\) in such spaces, we have \(\lim_{r\to 1^{-}}\|f_r-f\|=0\), where \(f_r(z)=f(rz)\). However, this is not always true and an example was constructed in [\textit{O. El-Fallah} et al., Constr. Approx. 44, No. 2, 269--281 (2016; Zbl 1355.46028)] for a de Branges-Rovnyak space \(\mathcal{H}(b)\), where \(b\) is the product of a rational function and a carefully chosen Blaschke product. It was shown that there exists a function \(f\) for which \(\lim_{r\to 1^{-}}\|f_r\|_{\mathcal{H}(b)}=\infty\). The main goal of the paper under review is to provide an example with \(b\) being an outer function. The authors actually prove a slightly stronger result. They show the existence of an outer function \(b\), non-extreme in the unit ball of \(H^{\infty}\) and a function \(f\in\mathcal{H}(b)\) such that \[ \lim_{r\to 1^{-}}|(f_r)^{+}(0)|=\infty. \] Here, for a function \(g\in\mathcal{H}(b)\), \(g^{+}\) is a certain function in \(H^2\) associated with \(g\). This is indeed a stronger result since for any such \(g\), we have \(\|g_r\|_{\mathcal{H}(b)}\geq|(g_r)^{+}(0)|\).
