Actually one investigates the spectral stability for the wave equation with a periodic forcing \(u\), \({\alpha}^2v_{tt}={\gamma}^2v_{xx}-(3u^2+k)v\), with parameter \(\gamma=7/8\), \(k=1/2\). Forcing term \(u\) is the solution of the beam equation \({\alpha}^2u_{tt}=-u_{xxxx}-(u^2+k)u\) and it has to be estimated first. One proves that for each value of \(\alpha\in\{5/4,14/11\}\), the beam equation has nontrivial solutions in some vector space. The main result of the article reads: for \(\alpha=5/4\) the above system is spectrally stable and for \(\alpha=14/11\) the system is not spectrally stable. The proofs are a combination of theoretical considerations and computer-assisted results. There are many references to an earlier paper of the authors [SIAM J. Appl. Dyn. Syst. 16, No. 1, 1--15 (2017; Zbl 1370.35213)]. In the second section some basics in Floquet-Krein theory in finite dimensions are presented, and in the third section the way described methods will be applied to finite-dimensional approximations of the wave equation is shown. General properties of the flow for the periodically perturbed wave equation are described in the forth section. The last two sections are devoted to the proof of main result and to the proofs of different used estimates. There is a large explanation of the steps and implemented procedures in the main program Run\(_-\)ALL, written in Ada and which is available as supplementary material to the article in \url{https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jde.2018.04.040}.
