The Kuranishi map provides a parameterization of a neighborhood of a point of the base of a Kodaira-Spencer deformation by a neighborhood of \(0\) in the tangent space to the base at that point. The universal solution for the deformation equation (developed by J. Stasheff and the author in an earlier paper and referred to as ``master equation'' in the text) is phrased as a Lie algebra valued twisting cochain. It is show that this solution recovers a formal version of the Kuranishi map parameterization. Thus using homological perturbation theory, the author develops a formal version of the miniversal deformation associated with a deformation problem controlled by a differential graded Lie algebra over a field of characteristic zero.
