The classical Shephard problem asks if given two convex bodies \(K,L\subset {\mathbb R}^n\) such that the projection of \(L\) onto any hyperplane is always larger than that of \(K\), does this imply that \(L\) has larger volume than \(K\)? A negative answer was given by Petty and Schneider in 1967 using projection bodies. This leads to a natural generalization in the context of the \(L_p\) Brunn Minkowski theory. \textit{D. Ryabogin} and \textit{A. Zvavitch} [Indiana Univ. Math. J. 53, No. 3, 667--682 (2004; Zbl 1062.52004)] obtained such a result for symmetric \(L_p\) projection bodies using tools from Fourier analysis. Here the authors obtain such a result for general \(L_p\) projection bodies (including asymmetric \(L_p\) projection bodies) through a different approach using tools from the \(L_p\) Brunn Minkowski theory.
