In [\textit{C. A. Francisco} and \textit{A. Van Tuyl}, Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 135, No. 8, 2327-2337 (2007; Zbl 1128.13013)] shellable and sequentially Cohen-Macaulay cycles have been investigated. Particularly, in Proposition 4.1, Francisco and Van Tuyl show that a cycle on \(n\) vertices is sequentially Cohen-Macaulay if and only if \(n\) is either 3 or 5. In the paper under review, the authors extend Francisco and Van Tuyl's study [loc. cit.] to hypergraphs. More specifically, they consider a class of hypergraphs called \textit{hypercycles}, that was defined in a joint work of the first author together with E. Emtander and F. Mohammadi. The authors obtain a similar result to that of Francisco and Van Tuyl, in showing that a hypercycle on \(n\) vertices is sequentially Cohen-Macaulay if and only if \(n\) is either 3 or 5. They also examine Cohen-Macaulay hypercycles.
