The author characterizes weak sharp local minimizers of order one of a lower-\(C^{1}\) function \(f\) over a nonempty closed convex set \(C\subset \mathbb{R}^{n}\) in terms of the directional derivative of \(f\) along proximal normals to a suitable subset of \(C\). He also extends two characterizations of weak sharp minima for convex functions due to \textit{J. V. Burke} and \textit{S. Deng} [Control Cybern. 31, No. 3, 439--469 (2002; Zbl 1105.90356)] to the class of lower-\(C^{1}\) functions.
