    Let \(d_1\) and \(d_2\) be two positive integers and let \(\psi\) be a radial Schwartz function defined on \({\mathbb R}\), that is supported in \((1/2,2)\). The author studies the Fourier multiplier \(T^{\lambda}\) associated with a conical surface \(S=\{(\xi,\tau)\in {\mathbb R}^{d_1} \times {\mathbb R}^{d_2}: |\xi|=|\tau|\}\), defined by \[ \widehat{T^{\lambda}f}(\xi,\tau) = \left(1-\frac{|\xi|^2}{|\tau|^2} \right)^{\lambda}_{+} \psi(|\tau|)\hat{f}(\xi,\tau), \quad (\xi,\tau) \in {\mathbb R}^{d_1} \times {\mathbb R}^{d_2}. \] If \(d_1\geq 2\) and \(d_2=1\) then \(T^{\lambda}\) denotes the usual cone multiplier. The main result of this paper is the following: Let \(d_1\geq 2\), \(d_2\geq 1\) and \(d_1+d_2\geq 5\). If \(\lambda>\lambda(p) :=(d_1+d_2-1)\big|\frac1{p}-\frac1{2}\big|-\frac1{2}\) and \[ p>p_0:=2+\frac{4}{d_1+d_2-4}\quad \text{or}\quad 1\leq {p}< \frac{p_0}{p_0-1}=\frac{2(d_1+d_2-2)}{d_1+d_2}, \] then \(\|T^{\lambda}f\|_{L^p({\mathbb R}^{d_1+d_2})} \leq {C_p} \|f\|_{L^p({\mathbb R}^{d_1+d_2})}\). The result improves a known result obtained by \textit{I. Łaba} and \textit{M. Pramanik} [Collect. Math. 2006, Spec. Iss., 293--326 (2006; Zbl 1213.42018)].
