The author considers the possibility of extending an identity for the modulus of a plane quadrilateral [\textit{A. S. Romanov}, Sib. Math. J. 49, No. 4, 709--717 (2008; Zbl 1164.30368)] to a hexahedron in \(\mathbb R^3\). A quadrilateral is a Jordan domain with four distinguished boundary points, which separate the boundary into two pairs of opposite sides. Denote by \(C_p(i)\) the \(p\)-capacity of the condenser with the plates formed by the \(i\)th pair of opposite sides, \(i=1,2\). Then the identity \(C_p(1)^{1/p}C_q(2)^{1/q}=1\) holds whenever \(1/p+1/q=1\). A hexahedron in \(\mathbb R^3\) has three pairs of opposite faces. As above, denote by \(C_p(i)\) the \(p\)-capacity of the condenser with the plates formed by the \(i\)th pair of opposite faces, \(i=1,2,3\). When the hexahedron is a rectangular parallelepiped, the identity \(C_p(1)^{1/p}C_q(2)^{1/q}C_r(3)^{1/r}=1\) holds whenever \(1/p+1/q+1/r=1\). However, the author shows that this identity fails for general hexahedra. As a positive result, he proves that the lower bound \(C_p(1)^{1/p}C_q(2)^{1/q}C_r(3)^{1/r}\geq 1\) does hold.
