This paper expands the notion of Dirac pairs by introducing Nijenhuis relations. Let us recall that Dirac pairs were first introduced by Dorfmann in order to generalize the bi-Hamiltonian structures. In this work, the author starts with defining the Nijenhuis relations by the vanishing of their torsion. A review of bi-Hamiltonian structures is also given. The Dirac pairs are then defined following Dorfman's work and the compatibility condition is introduced so that Poisson structures constitute a Poisson pair if and only if their graphs constitute a Dirac pair. The link with compatible structures on Lie algebroids is then studied.
