This paper is concerned with the multisymplectic formulation and discretization of the so called ``good'' Boussinesq equation: \[ u_{tt}= - u_{xxxx} + u_{xx} + ( u^2)_{xx}, \tag{1} \] where \( u=u(x,t)\) is the unknown function and \(x\) and \(t\) are real variables. First of all, the author proves that by introducing a new function \( v = v(x,t)\) such that \( u_t= v_{xx}\), the equation (1) can be written as the equivalent system of evolutionary equations: \( u_t = v_{xx}, v_t= - u_{xx} + u^2 + u \), that can be derived from a suitable Lagrangian density. Further, by introducing a pair of conjugate momenta \( p=u_x, q=v_x\), the same problem also be reformulated as a multisymplectic Hamiltonian system \( L z_t + M z_x = \nabla_z S(z)\) (2) with \( z=(u,v,p,q)^T\), \(L\) and \(M\) antisymmetric constant matrices and \( S = S(z)\) the Hamiltonian function. With this formulation the conservation laws of energy and momentum are easily obtained. In the second part of the paper, the author proposes a discretization of (2) based on a Fourier pseudospectral discretization of the space variable in a compact domain \([0,L]\) together with a time advancing scheme based in the midpoint rule. It is proved that such a discretization possess \(N\) (the number of grid points) multisymplectic conservation laws.
