Let \(\mathbb{C}_p\) be the competition of the algebraic closure of the \(p\)-adic number field \(\mathbb{Q}_p\). Let \(m\in \mathbb{N}\), \(m\in \text{GL}_m(\mathbb{C}_p)\), \(U\) a zero neighbourhood in \(\mathbb{C}^m_p\). An \(f:U\to \mathbb{C}^m_p\) of the form (1) \(Z\mapsto Mz+g(z)\), where the monomials in the power series of \(g\) have degree \(\geq 2\), is called linearizable if there exists an analytic bijection \(\varphi\) such that \(f(\varphi(z))=\varphi(Mz)\). The paper concerns linearizability of a family \(\{f_t: t\in\mathbb{O}_p\}\) where \(f_t(z)=Mz+\sum^d_{i>0} t^ig_iz(z)\) is a `polynomial perturbation' of (1). It is proved that under certain conditions, \(\{t\in\mathbb{O}_p:f_t\) is linearizable\} is either \(\mathbb{Q}_p\) or a small set (`a set of zero transfinite diameter'). The result yields new examples of nonlinearizable functions. It is the counterpart of a similar result in the complex case, where potential theory and logarithmic capacity were used for the proof. Thus, another method (transfinite diameter) was needed for the \(p\)-adic case.
