The author considers numerical semigroups, that is, subsemigroups of the additive semigroup \(\mathbb{N}\) of non-negative integers whose complement has finite cardinality. Numerical semigroups are important for example in the study of algebraic curves. In fact to each point \(P\) of a complete irreducible nonsingular curve \(C\) of genus \(g\) there is associated a numerical semigroup, namely the Weierstrass semigroup of the pole orders of the rational functions on \(C\) holomorphic outside \(P\). The positive integers not belonging to this semigroup are \(g\) in number and are called the Weierstrass gaps of \(P\). Given a numerical semigroup of genus \(g\) whose last gap is larger than \(2g-5\) an explicit description of the set of all sums of \(n\) gaps is obtained for each positive integer \(n\). In particular it is shown that a technique of Buchweitz/Komeda to give non-Weierstrass semigroups cannot be applied to this case.
