The paper aims at establishing the validity of the linear sampling method for the solution of the 3-dimensional electromagnetic inverse scattering problem of the determination of the shape of thin scattering objects, screens, with mixed perfectly conducting -- impedance boundary conditions. A well-posedness of the corresponding direct problem is established and the analysis of the linear sampling method is given, which is based on a proper factorization of the far field operator, an a priori estimate for the solution of the forward problem in terms of the boundary data, and on the regularization theory of ill-posed equations. The authors notice also that the same analysis holds in the case when the material properties change on the same side of the screen.
