The authors consider nonlinear first order integro-differential equations with periodic boundary conditions and give sufficient conditions for the existence of extremal solutions. The main tool in the analysis is a comparison Theorem, presented in Section 2, and this leads (in Section 3) to a Theorem guaranteeing the existence of extremal solutions as the limit of a monotone sequence of solutions of related equations. The paper concludes by giving examples that illustrate the results.
