The author considers a mixed type equilibrium problem which involves several mappings and bifunctions in a Hilbert space. An auxiliary problem principle based splitting type algorithm with inexact solutions of subproblems is suggested to solve this problem. It is strongly convergent under additional continuity and partially relaxed strong monotonicity assumptions. These results extend similar recent results which were obtained by several authors for less general problems.
