The Adams spectral sequence was originally set up to study the 2-primary homotopy groups of spheres [see \textit{J. F. Adams}, Comment. Math. Helv. 32, 180--214 (1958; Zbl 0083.17802)]. In a famous collaboration [Topology 5, 331--342 (1966; Zbl 0158.20502)], \textit{A. K. Bousfield, E. B. Curtis, D. M. Kan, D. G. Quillen, D. L. Rector} and \textit{J. W. Schlesinger} set up a bi-graded \(\mathbb Z/2\)-algebra, which has proved very useful in studying homotopy groups of spheres by these methods. The algebra \(\wedge\) may be given in terms of generators and relations, with a specific formula for the differential. The Adams relations yield a chain-complex of right \(\wedge\)-modules \[ \wedge\to\wedge\to\wedge \] which is acyclic. The main results of this paper generalize this to other complexes of \(\wedge\)-modules, as well as complexes of modules over sub-algebras of \(\wedge\). Under suitable conditions, such complexes prove to be acyclic. The details are unfortunately much too technical to be included here.
