The set of coassociated primes of a cotorsion module \(M\) is defined as the set of all primes \(p\) such that \(F(M)\), the flat cover of \(M\), contains a copy of \(R_p\) as a summand. It is shown that if \(M\) is a cotorsion module, then a prime \(p\) of \(R\) is a coassociated prime if and only if \(k(p) \otimes _{R} \text{Hom} _{R} (R_{p},M) \neq 0.\) The concept of a coassociated prime is clearly dual to that of an associated prime. This paper explores the duals of properties known for associated primes. Some of these properties are used to show that if \(R\) is a ring with flat injective envelope, then every cotorsion \(R\)-module \(M\) has a nonzero injective cover if and only if \(\text{Coass}(M) \cap \text{Ass}_{R} \neq \varnothing.\)
