Let \(\Omega\subset\subset {\mathbb C}^n\) be a smooth convex domain of finite type \(m\) in the sense of D'Angelo. The author studies two different pseudo-distances \(d_+\), \(d_-\), and related geometric constructions describing the complex geometry of the boundary \(\partial \Omega\) of \(\Omega\). Using these results, the author obtains the following Hölder estimates for the solving operator \(T_q\) for the inhomogeneous Cauchy-Riemann equation. More precisely, let \(T_q\) be the solution operator for \(\overline\partial\) which was constructed by Diederich, Fischer and Fornaess. Then, for every \(\varepsilon>0\), there exists a constant \(C_\varepsilon>0\) such that \(T_q(f)\) satisfies the estimate \[ \big| T_q(f)(z_1)-T_q(f)(z_2)\big| \leq C_\varepsilon\| f\| _{L^\infty(\Omega)} \max\big\{d(z_1,z_2)^{1/m},| z_1-z_2| ^{1-\varepsilon}\big\}. \]
