    The problem of the asymptotic stability for the delay difference system \[ x_i(n+1) - x_i(n) = - b_ix_i(n-l_i(n)) + \sum_1^m d_{ij}(n)x_j(n-h_{ij}(n)) \] with \(0\leq l_i(n)\leq l_i\), \(0\leq h_{ij}(n)\leq h_{ij}\), \(| d_{ij}(n)| \leq d_{ij}\), \(l_i\), \(h_{ij}\) being nonnegative integers and \(b_i>0\), \(d_{ij}\geq 0\) real constants, is considered. Let \(\tilde{d}_{ij}=d_{ij}/c_i\), where \(c_i\) are given by some rational expressions of \(l_i\) and \(b_i\). If \[ b_i(l_i+1)<3/2 + 1/(2(l_i+1)) \] and the matrix with its entries \(b_i\delta_{ij}-\tilde{d}_{ij}\), \(\delta_{ij}\) being the Kronecker symbol, is a nonsingular \(M\)-matrix then the system is asymptotically stable.
