Gravitational capture of small celestial bodies by major planets is an interesting phenomenon in planetary systems and it is often used as a model for investigating of motion of comets, asteroids and moons. As a matter of fact the restricted circular or elliptic three-body problem is the model for the gravitational capture, for example, asteroids near the Earth. It is demonstrated that the circular restricted three-body problem is inadequate to study the phenomenon of capture in some concrete cases of the asteroid (2002MN, for example). This is due to an invariance of types of the Hill regions. Therefore, the spatial restricted elliptic three-body problem is used in the article for modeling of variations of the Hill regions. Necessary conditions of a small body capture by the planet are found.
