Let \(X\) be a Banach space, \(K\subseteq X\) be nonempty convex, \( T:K\rightarrow X^{\ast }\) be a map whose restriction on line segments is continuous with respect to the weak\(^{\ast }\) topology in \(X^{\ast }\), and \( \eta :K\times K\rightarrow X\) be a map. The paper investigates generalizations of the Stampacchia variational inequality of the following form: find \(y\in K\) such that for each \(x\in K\backslash \{y\}\), there exists \(t\in (0,1]\) such that for \(u=ty+(1-t)x\) the inequality \(\left\langle T(u),\eta (x,u)\right\rangle \geq 0\) holds. In the paper, some new generalized monotonicity conditions for \(T\) are introduced. Under these conditions, assuming the strong continuity of \(x\rightarrow \eta (\cdot ,x)\) and \(x\rightarrow \eta (x,\cdot )\) (in order to ensure convergence of sequences of the form \(\left\langle T(u_{n}),\eta (x,u_{n})\right\rangle \) and \(\left\langle T(u_{n}),\eta (u_{n},x)\right\rangle \)) one can obtain some existence results for the above-mentioned variational inequality, thus generalizing known results for quasimonotone maps.
