Electrorheological fluids are smart materials -- concentrated suspensions of polarizable particles in a nonconducting fluid. There exists a fairly complete theory describing constitutive stress-strain relation for such fluids in the presence of an electrical field. The authors focus their attention to the case when the fluid is anisotropic and the viscosity function depends on the shear rate, electric field strength, and on the angle between the electric and velocity vectors. Using mathematical tools like a fixed point argument, compactness and monotonicity arguments they prove existence results for the model under consideration. Moreover, some numerical simulations are presented in this paper.
