The author considers the problem of the existence of bifurcation in the solution set of the equation \(F(x,\lambda) = 0\), where \(F:X\times \mathbb R^k\to Y\) is a \(C^2\)-smooth operator, and \(X\) and \(Y\) are Banach spaces such that \(X\subset Y\). Moreover, there is given a scalar product \(\langle\cdot,\cdot\rangle:Y\times Y\to \mathbb R^1\) that is continuous with respect to the norms in \(X\) and \(Y\). The author shows that under some conditions there is bifurcation at the point \((0,\lambda_0)\in X\times \mathbb R^k\) and she describes the solution set of the studied equation in a small neighbourhood of this point.
