The paper deals with the spread of an infection among individuals in the \(d\)-dimensional integer lattice. The probability that at time \(t\) the individual located at \(x\) is infected has a Gaussian behaviour for \(d>4\) when the infection range is large enough. If \(d\leq 4\), local mean fields limits are performed to obtain an asymptotic Gaussian behaviour. The proof is based on time discretization. Lace expansion and inductive approach are suitably modified to take the time step into account. The properly scaled lace expansion is proved to converge to a certain continuum limit which can be viewed as a lace expansion in continuous time.
