The following non-self-adjoint discrete Sturm-Liouville problem is considered \[ \begin{aligned} H(k+1)- \alpha H(k)+ \gamma^2 H(k-1)&= \lambda H(k),\quad 1\leq k\leq N-1,\tag{1}\\ H(0) &= FH(1),\tag{2}\\ H(N-1)&= LH(N),\tag{3} \end{aligned} \] where the unknown \(H(k)\) is an \(m\)-dimensional vector in \(\mathbb{R}^m\), \(F\) and \(L\) are matrices in \(\mathbb{R}^{m\times m}\), not necessarily symmetric, \(\alpha\) and \(\gamma\) are real numbers with \(\gamma> 0\) and \(\lambda\) is a real parameter. Section 2 deals with existence and construction of the eigenpairs of problem (1)--(3). In Section 3, an inner product is introduced, which permits to construct an orthogonal basis in the eigenfunctions space and to obtain finite Fourier series expansions in terms of eigenfunctions. Section 4 includes a detailed example.
