In the paper under review the regularity properties of the density of the measure \(\mu_{x,y}= \delta e^x* \delta e^y\) intervening in the product formula for the spherical functions on symmetric spaces of non-compact type are studied. Under certain conditions, using spherical Fourier theory, an expression for the kernel is found. A geometric construction of its support is also given.
