Let \(k(x,y)=K(x-y)\), where \(K\) is an odd \(C^\infty\) function defined in \(\mathbb C\backslash\{0\}\) such that \[ | x| ^{1+j}| \nabla^jK(x)| \in L^\infty(\mathbb C) \] for all \(j=0,1,2,\dots\)\ . Given a fixed positive Radon measure \(\mu\) on \(\mathbb C\) and \(f\in L^1_{\text{loc}}(\mu)\), define \[ T_\mu f(x)=\int k(x,y)f(y)\,d\mu(y) \] for all \(x\in\mathbb C\backslash\text{supp}(f\,d\mu)\), and \[ T_{\mu,\varepsilon} f(x) =\displaystyle\int_{| x-y| >\varepsilon}k(x,y)f(y)\,d\mu(y) \] for \(x\in\mathbb C\) and \(\varepsilon>0\). The Calderón-Zygmund operator \(T_\mu\) is said to be bounded on \(L^2(\mu)\) if the operator \(T_{\mu,\varepsilon}\) are bounded on \(L^2(\mu)\) uniformly on \(\varepsilon>0\). A basic example of a Calderón-Zygmund operator with this type of kernel is the Cauchy transform \(C_\mu\), that is , \(k(x,y)=1/(y-x)\). Let \(\mu\) be a Radon measure without atoms on \(\mathbb C\). In this paper, the author proves that if the Cauchy transform \(C_\mu\) is bounded on \(L^2(\mu)\), then any \(1\)-dimensional Calderón-Zygmund operator \(T_\mu\) associated to a kernel of the form \(k(x,y)=K(x-y)\) with \(K\) as above is also bounded on \(L^2(\mu)\). A fundamental tool for the proof of this result is the corona decomposition for measures with linear growth and finite curvature obtained by the author in [``Bilipschitz maps, analytic capacity, and the Cauchy integral'', Ann. Math. (2) (to appear)].
