The concept of a \(\Gamma\)-semigroup was introduced by \textit{M. K. Sen} [Algebra and its applications, Int. Symp., New Delhi 1981, Lect. Notes Pure Appl. Math. 91, 301--308 (1984; Zbl 0548.20051)]. In the present paper the authors consider \(\Gamma\)-semigroups having the additional condition \(xa(ybz)=(xay)bz=x(ayb)z\) \(\forall a, b\in S\) \(\forall x,y,z\in \Gamma\) and call them simply \(\Gamma\)-semigroups. They introduce the concepts of ordered \(\Gamma\)-semigroup (po-\(\Gamma\)-semigroup), intra-regular po-\(\Gamma\)-semigroup and the concepts of left, right ideals in ordered \(\Gamma\)-semigroups. The results of prime, weakly prime ideals considered by \textit{N. Kehayopulu} [Math. Jap. 35, No. 6, 1051--1056 (1990; Zbl 0717.06006) and Semigroup Forum 44, No. 3, 341--346 (1992; Zbl 0756.06008)], with the appropriate definitions of left, right ideals mentioned above, remain true for ordered \(\Gamma\)-semigroups as well. Let \(S\) be a po-\(\Gamma\)-semigroup and \(T\subseteq S\). \(T\) is called prime if \(A,B\subseteq S\), \(AB\subseteq T\) imply \(A\subseteq T\) or \(B\subseteq T\). \(T\) is called weakly prime if for all ideals \(A,B\) of \(S\) such that \(AB\subseteq T\), we have \(A\subseteq T\) or \(B\subseteq T\). The main results of the paper are the following: The authors first remark that in a po-\(\Gamma\)-semigroup \(S\) the following are equivalent: (1) \((A\Gamma A]=A\) for each ideal \(A\) of \(S\) (i.e the ideals of \(S\) are idempotent). (2) \((A\Gamma B]=A\cap B\) for all ideals \(A,B\) of \(S\). (3) \(a\in (S\Gamma a\Gamma S\Gamma a\Gamma S]\) \(\forall a\in S\). Theorem 1. Let \(S\) be a po-\(\Gamma\)-semigroup. The ideals of \(S\) are weakly prime if and only if they form a chain and one of the three equivalent conditions (1), (2), (3) mentioned above holds in \(S\). Theorem 2. Let \(S\) be a po-\(\Gamma\)-semigroup. The ideals of \(S\) are prime if and only if they form a chain and \(S\) is intra-regular.
