In the paper under review, the generalized grand and small Lebesgue spaces \(L^{p),\theta}(\Omega)\) and \(L^{(p',\theta}(\Omega) \) \((\theta>0)\) with the norms defined by \[ \| f\| _{p),\theta}=\sup_{0<\varepsilon<p-1} \left( \varepsilon^\theta \fint_{\Omega} | f| ^{p-\varepsilon} \right) ^{\frac{1}{p-\varepsilon}}, \] \[ \| g\| _{(p',\theta}=\inf_{g=\sum\limits_{k=1}^\infty g_k} \left\{\sum_{k=1}^\infty \inf_{0<\varepsilon<p-1} \varepsilon^{-\frac{\theta}{p-\varepsilon}} \left( \fint_{\Omega} | g_k| ^{(p-\varepsilon)'} \right) ^{\frac{1}{(p-\varepsilon)'}}\right\}, \] are introduced and studied. For \(\theta=1\), such spaces reduce, respectively, to the grand and small Lebesgue spaces \(L^{p)}(\Omega)\) and \(L^{(p'}(\Omega)\) (which were introduced and studied previously by \textit{T. Iwaniec} and \textit{C. Sbordone} [Arch. Rat. Mech. Anal., 119, No. 2, 129--143 (1992; Zbl 0766.46016)] and \textit{A. Fiorenza} [Collect. Math. 51, No. 2, 131--148 (2000; Zbl 0960.46022)], respectively). The authors prove the following theorems: \(L^{p),\delta}\) and \(L^{(p',\delta} \) are rearrangement invariant Banach function spaces; the associate space of \(L^{p),\delta}\) is \(L^{(p',\delta}\); the dual space of \(L^{(p',\delta}\) is isometrically isomorphic to \(L^{p),\delta} \); the bounded functions are dense in \(L^{(p',\delta}\) while they are not dense in \(L^{p),\delta}\). They also prove some theorems concerning a comparison of \(L^{p),\delta}\) and \(L^{(p',\delta} \) with Orlicz spaces and compute explicitly the fundamental functions of \(L^{p),\delta}\) and \(L^{(p',\delta} \).
