By a classical theorem of Koebe every closed Riemann surface of genus \(g\) can be obtained in the form \(\Omega(G)/G\) where \(G\) is a Schottky group of genus \(g\) and \(\Omega(G)\) its region of discontinuity. If \(S\) is a closed Riemann surface of genus \(g\) and \(H\) a group of (conformal or anticonformal) automorphisms of \(S\), the authors define \(H\) to be of Schottky type if there exists a Schottky group \(G\) uniformizing the surface \(S\) for which the group \(H\) lifts. If \(K\) is the group of Möbius transformations obtained by the lifting we have that \(G\) is a normal subgroup of finite index in \(K\) such that \(K/G\) is isomorphic to \(H\). In the special case \(g= 6\) the authors show: Every closed Riemann surface of genus 6 admitting \({\mathcal A}_5\) as a group of conformal automorphisms is of Schottky type. In fact, the authors construct a complex one-dimensional family of Schottky groups solving the uniformization problem. For special values of the parameter interesting surfaces with remarkable properties and interesting limiting cases are obtained. The Schottky uniformization is used to construct a reducible symplectic representation of \({\mathcal A}_5\).
