In 1996, T. Bisztriczky introduced a type of \(d\)-dimensional polytopes (the so-called multiplexes) which are direct generalizations of simplices. There is a \(d\)-dimensional multiplex with \(v\) vertices in Euclidean \(d\)-space for any \(v\geq d+1\), every face of a multiplex is a multiplex, and (as simplices) multiplexes are self-dual. In the present paper it is shown that the flag vectors of multiplicial polytopes depend only on their face vectors. Further on, the subclass of ordinary polytopes (which are natural generalizations of the cyclic polytopes) is studied. Namely, the flag vectors of ordinary polytopes are determined, and a surprisingly simple formula for \(h\)-vectors is given, too. The final part of the paper refers to a construction of an interesting special type of multiplicial 4-polytopes.
