Partial functional-differential equations of the form \[ {{d}\over {dt}} x(t) = Ax(t)+ L(t,x_t)+ G(t,x_t) \] are considered, where \(A\) is a possibly nondensely defined Hille-Yosida operator, \(L\) is bounded, linear in the second argument and continuous, \(\omega\)-periodic in \(t\), and \(G\) is continuous, bounded in the second variable and \(\omega\)-periodic in \(t\). Further, it is assumed that the semigroup \(T_0(T)\) generated by the part of \(A\) in \(\overline{D(A)}\) is compact. The aim of the paper is to extend classical results on the existence of periodic solutions to the nondensely defined case. For example, it is shown that the linear inhomogeneous delay equation has a periodic solution if and only if it has a bounded solution. The general nonlinear equation is treated by using the inhomogeneous linear equation. As an application, a one-dimensional heat equation is considered.
