The author considers the eigenvalue problem of one-dimensional \(p\)-Laplacian \[ - (| u'(x) | ^{p-2} u'(x))' = \lambda r(x) | u(x) | ^{p-2} u(x), \quad x \in (a, b), \] subject to the Dirichlet boundary condition \(u(a) = u(b) = 0\), where \(\lambda\) is real, \(p > 1\), \(r(x)\) is a bounded positive function. The eigenvalues are \(0 \leq \lambda_1 < \lambda_2 < \cdots < \lambda_k < \cdots\). Use a generalization of the Lyapunov inequality, he gets a sharp lower bound for the eigenvalues: \(\lambda_n \geq [2^p n^p] / [(b-a)^{p-1} \int_a^b r(x) \,dx]\).
