Derangements and asymptotics of the Laplace transforms of large powers of a polynomial (Q1774333)

A probabilistic approach is used to obtain sharp asymptotic estimates as \(n\to\infty\) for the Laplace transform of \(P^n\), where \(P\) is a fixed complex polynomial. As a consequence a new elementary proof for a result due to \textit{R. Askey}, \textit{M. E. H. Ismail} and \textit{T. M. T. Rashed} [A derangement problem, Proc. 6th Southeast. Conf. Comb., Graph Theor., Comput., Boca Raton 1975, 639--641 (1975; Zbl 0337.05011)] and \textit{J. Gillis}, \textit{M. E. H. Ismail} and \textit{T. Offer} [An asymptotic problem in derangement theory, SIAM J. Math. Anal. 21, 262--269 (1990; Zbl 0748.05004)] in combinatorial theory of derangements is obtained.
