A generalization of the Poincaré-Bendixson theorem for compact 3-manifolds (Q1775139)

The generalization of the title is to compressible cylindrical ends in compact foliated 3-manifolds. The author shows that such ends spiral onto toral leaves. The work strengthens his earlier theorem which had stronger hypotheses [\textit{C. Charitos}, J. Aust. Math. Soc., Ser. A 63, 208--217 (1997; Zbl 0894.57022)].
