Let \(G\) be a finite group. Strengthening a result by \textit{Li} and \textit{Guo} [Proc. F. Scorina Gomel Univ. 6, No. 27, 11-15 (2004)], the main result in the present paper is Theorem 1.7: If \(\mathcal F\) is a non-empty saturated formation of characteristic \(\pi\) and \(K\) is a normal subgroup of \(G\) such that each subgroup of every chief factor of \(G\) below \(K\) contains a nilpotent Hall \(\pi\)-subgroup and is such that \(G/K\) possesses exactly one conjugacy class of \(\mathcal F\)-covering subgroups, then \(G\) possesses exactly one conjugacy class of \(\mathcal F\)-covering subgroups. Unless the order of each chief factor of \(G\) is divisible by at least two primes in \(\pi\), it follows (Corollary 1.10) that \(G\) possesses exactly one conjugacy class of \(\mathcal F\)-covering subgroups. A generalisation of the main result to Schunck classes is also provided (Theorem 4.2). (Also submitted to MR.)
