The paper deals with the generalization of V.F. Borisov's result on the number of periodic orbits in the orbit space of the symmetric Fuller system to the case of systems with arbitrary dimensions and weights. It is presented an algorithmic procedure for computing periodic orbits in the quotient space for arbitrary dimensions and weights. Since, in the general case, at present there exists no algorithm that decides wether all periodic orbits have already been found at a given stage, the author gives an attempt to approach this open problem. He demonstrates the complexity of this problem and shows its links with other fields of mathematics, namely approximation theory, the theory of polynomial systems, and special functions.
