We prove the spectral method for calculating the propagation constants of normal waves in screened waveguides with an irregular cross-section and a nonhomogeneous filling. The problem is reduced to the nonlinear spectral problem for operator-functions in a Hilbert space. Existence theorems are proved for spectral points and the cutoff method is substantiated.
